Happy Valentine's Day 3D

Here is a card I did for a challenge on SCS. I must say it doesn't look as cluttered in real life but I wanted to take the picture at an angle so you could see the 3D effect. I just cut lots of flowers, vines and scrolly things to glue on the different pages of the card. The directions can be found over on SCS under Tuesday's challenge for 1-31-2012. I could not get the link to work or I would have put it here.

It's been a very warm January but I think February will be starting out a little colder. We are expecting some snow on Thursday and maybe a blizzard. We never know what we will get here. It's always different from the city forecast since we are so much higher. But, I must say, I'm ready for a good snowfall!

Love Monster

It's so great to be back in my craft room today! We had our daughter and hubby over for the weekend so crafting was not on the agenda! Here is a fun card made using Kim's stamps from Paper Smooches. I got to take one of her classes in Phoenix and loved her! Here I stamped the monster directly on the DP and then cut him out. She really has some fun images! The red heart is a felt sticker I had in my stash. The kraft heart cardstock was leftovers from a kit.

Hope you have a fun week! I'll be back tomorrow with some more goodies!

Washi Tape card

Here is another Washi tape card I made that is very similar to the previous one. I varied the distances between the tapes to make my own paper. The "thanks" is a $1 stamp from the M store. I colored each letter with Marvy markers.

Hope your weekend will be full of crafting! We will have our daughter and son-in-law over tomorrow so that will be nice. Maybe on Sunday we will do something fun since it is supposed to be a nice day. We had snow showers most of the day today but no accumulations much. My hubby is out sweeping the driveway as there is about an inch or so in some places. The snow is so dry that is just brushes right off - gotta love that! Nothing like the east coast snows! Have a great weekend whatever you have planned!

2 Hearts SC369

I'm really on a roll...2 postings again today! I'll be lucky to post the rest of the week so figured I better take advantage of this!!! Here is another post for a sketch challenge on SCS. I wanted to do another valentine card so this worked out pretty well. The red paper is metallic although it doesn't show that too well. I embossed the red hearts and added the bows. Simple card! Gotta like that!

Happy Valentine's Day

Another Valentine card. This is one of my favorite valentine stamps maybe because I love fluffy dogs! This doggie reminds me of our neighbor's dog in Arizona and my Muffy dog sent Marley a valentine last year with this image! Muffy has since gone to heaven but our memories of her are never forgotten. I have no idea whose stamp this is as it is unmounted rubber and I don't care to take the time to label all my stamps! Would rather spend the time playing! So there! The DP is by My Mind's Eye.

I guess all of our favorite crafting stores are going to have a great weekend with the big winter CHA show. Don't you just wish you could go to that! What a treat that would be! I look forward to seeing all the new products in the stores in the next few months. And Tim Holtz has some awesome distressing markers coming out. Can't wait to try those!

Have a great day!

CC359

Nothing like posting 2 cards in one day!!! What an accomplishment for me today! This is the color challenge over on SCS. We had to use poppy, the lime green and black. We could also add dessert by using 2 embossing folders! No problem with that as I have tons of embossing folders that have been rather lonely in their box. I added a paper flower to turn this into a valentine card. It's always great to make a card that I know I can use soon! What a great challenge for today!

Valentine

Here is a wintery valentine for a cold wintery day in Colorado. The image is by Sugar Nellie. I colored with Copics and added a little Stickles to the centers of the flowers. The top border is cut from Doodlebug Design DP. The polka dot paper is from my stash of scraps. The heart is a MS punch with a red heart bling added to the center.

Stay warm! Have a great day!

A little side track...

OK ladies...here is a little side track from my stamping to show you what keeps me busy when I'm not stamping. Another of my favorite hobbies is decorating and sewing. So, after the recent move to Colorado, I've had lots and lots of windows to make window treatments for. Here are a few of the ones I have completed. Most of the windows in our house do not need anything for privacy. I am one of those people who HATES having my house closed up. I need the sunshine and brightness in my house. Too depressing without it! So, most of our windows do not have shades or blinds on them. There is one window in the house that looks out to our neighbors back but they can not see in our house because we put up mirror film on the front windows. We can see out, but they can't see in. It also alleviated the need for blinds to shut them out! We have had to put up a few blinds or shades to block out the sun during certain parts of the day. BUT, I promise you...once the sun has ventured on by us...those blinds and shades are WIDE OPEN!!!

Hope you enjoyed my side track. I'll be back tomorrow for some stamping fun! See you!

Be Mine

Isn't she just the cutest cow??? Yes, this city girl has begun to love the country life - kind of hard not to when you have cows visiting occasionally in the summer months. When I saw this stamp, I fell in love with it! I've used it a few other times but thought it would be so cute for Valentine's Day too! It's an easy peasy stamp too so that makes it even better!!! It's by Great Impressions. I added a few MS punches on the bottom of the card to bring out the black. The candy heart is by MSE.

I got my window treatments up and love how they turned out. Maybe I will get some photos of some of my creations when I get ambitious enough to do a little cleaning! I had such a hard time finding trim and then I ran across a wonderful place online with really good deals on trims. I was so pleased with my purchase. If you are interested, let me know and I will post the info. I don't remember it right now!!!

Have a wonderful week of crafting, sewing or whatever tickles your fancy!

Congrats card

I had so much fun making this card! My daughter-in-law is having lasik surgery on her eyes today. Her vision is pretty bad without glasses or contacts. So, I was trying to think of a good card to make for her. I found a scrapbook store with lots of discontinued things in it and came upon this PERFECT stamp for her! I was jumping for joy when I found it!!! It has the eye chart on it in the form of Congratulations. The stamp doesn't have the manufacturer on it so I have no clue who made it. The other sentiment is by Hero Arts and the inside sentiment is by the Stamp Pad. It was a stamp I usually use for graduation cards but thought it was fitting for this card too! Her world will be so much brighter with new eyes. I'm pretty excited for her! The papers are by Cosmo Cricket. The big edge bracket is by Tim Holtz.

Enjoy your day!

Valentine Mailbox

I made this Valentine card from some leftover mailbox stamps I made for our change of address cards. I added the red heart to the envelope for the valentine and of course used different background papers for the card. The DP is from My Mind's Eye. I punched the lacy hearts with a MS punch. The "for you" was popped up with dimensionals as well as the red letter.

I finished my window treatments for another room. I just have to wait until Thursday for my hubby to get home and put up the brackets to mount them. It's always a long wait when you are anxiously awaiting to get something like this put up!

The first half of the year is full of birthdays so I'm busy working on cards and a few projects for gifts. When I have a few spare moments I try to work on my next quilting project. Never a dull moment around here!!! Thanks for dropping by...come back again for some more goodies!

McDonald's memories

This is a book that I made for my brother for Christmas. He recently demolished one of his McDonald's stores and rebuilt a beautiful new store in it's place. I made a book to capture the memories of this remarkable event in his life. I purchased a cook book kit and used the papers, bags and some of the embellishments to make my book. He had a VIP open house for the big whigs in the city and used many of McDonald's products to make appetizers and desserts for this occasion. It was truly amazing to see all the things you could make from McDonald's ingredients they use everyday. The book is made from black paperbags. Inside each bag there are recipe cards that come out to show the foods they had at the open house. I got a hold of the special menu they had for the first week - and I shrunk it to fit my book. I also had a copy of the invitation - and shrunk it too. I had all my photos made at Sam's in a wallet size so that I could put many photos in a small space. For most of the books that I make...I use wallet photos. They are very cheap at Costco and Sam's. I also printed up some clip art Ronald McDonald figures to embellish the pages. I did add lots of cut ribbons to the binder rings but I guess I didn't get those on until after the picture. It did add so much more to the look of the book! All in all, it turned out really cute and he loved it. I can not get the photos to publish on my blog in the correct order - I'm still working on that one!!!

Have a great weekend!

Another Valentine's Day card for you today! I do like my jar stamps! This has a different top than the previous post but it's from the same stamp set by Papertrey Ink. Again, these are all papers from my HUGE scrap files. Got to use those up so I can have more room for more!

I'm working on some window treatments for another room in our house. These windows have stumped me for awhile so I have decided to bite the bullet and just do something and be done. We had to order honeycomb shades to block out the sun that beats in the windows in the winter and I will be putting a top treatment above. There is an eyebrow shaped window and then doors on each side with windows above them. So, it's kind of a challenge to find something that will work for all. We'll see how it goes! Colorado Springs is not the best place for finding fabric and trims so I'm having to order most of my fabric online. Sometimes I get surprises when I open up the packages and find the fabric isn't exactly what I had envisioned or the fabric was NOT the fabric as described. I have found that the people that label the fabrics have absolutely NO clue about fabric.

SO...hope you have a great weekend! GO BRONCOS!!!

Thank you

This is a card I made using my new Tim Holtz bird cage die. I think I will find lots of uses for this die! Love it. I added a Dee Gruenig stamped flower that I colored with Marvy markers. I also tied a tag on the cage for the thank you. The top border is a MS punch. The papers are from my scrap stash.

I'm still fighting my blog and Photo Shop Elements program. I'm figuring out PSE but now my blog is giving me troubles. I don't know why the first letter of my post is a different color but at least I can type on the post. I've been trying for the past hour just to TYPE!!! Computers frustrate me to no end! Hope your day goes better than mine!!!

Washi cards

I'm so excited about this card. You may ask, "WHY!" Well, my daughter-in-law gave me some "washi tape" last year for Christmas. At the time, I had no idea how to use it. It was a new one for me. Well, then January came and we were starting the house hunting process - seriously - and the next thing you know...we are packing up and moving to Colorado. With 32 years of STUFF, it takes awhile to get settled and find things (and I am still hunting). So, my washi tape kind of got tossed aside until this week when I found it again. So, I did a little brainstorming and decided to make my own paper from it since they were all such pretty colors. So, that is what I did. The tape has a smooth satiny feel and it tears easily. I just started putting strips on my paper and loved the results! I didn't want to put anything fancy on top of it because then you wouldn't see the washi tape! So, this is a simple card but a fun card! I had so much fun that I made a few more but I won't post those until later. I've seen a few rolls of washi tape in Archiver's but it's not as nice as this. And Martha Stewart now has some but hers aren't that nice either. This is in a box called "happytape" and I have no idea where you get it but you can probably google it and find it somewhere. I have 10 beautiful rolls in my box and they are all my favorite colors! There is TONS of tape on each roll too so it should last me the rest of my life unless I keep making cards like I have been today! (I got a little carried away!!!)

Feb 14 is coming soon!

Yes, the day is approaching faster than I want it to. So, here is my first V-day card. I have had this jar stamp for quite some time and it has never been used. I had some candy hearts that I stamped and then cut out to put inside the jar. The stamp set also has the jar lid and different fabric trimmings to add to the cute jar. So, I stamped each individually and then cut them out and taped together. The stamp set is by Papertrey Ink. The DP is by My Mind's Eyes. The pink cardstock is embossed with a Sizzix folder and the heart punch is by Martha Stewart.

It's kind of frustrating to me to have to figure out all the strange changes since my computer was attacked last week. I had planned to do more work on my blog but now I am terrified to even touch anything! So hopefully I can live with the colors and design for awhile! Hope you can too! Have a great week!

Back again...

Wow! It's been awhile. The last time I was on my blog, I was making some changes to the appearance. That's when everything came to a screeching halt!!! I got a virus that wiped me out. I had to wait until my husband got home from his trip to do anything. And it was major! So, we are back up and running but it's slow going. The slate is clean and I am starting all over. Lost everything but that is ok. My PSE program is all different now -guess there were lots of updates that I never bothered to do over the years and now it's like learning it all over again. The first time around was horrible. Now I get to do it again - HORRORS! So, things will be slow for awhile.

It's snowing here so I decided to post my Penguin quilt block that I made for January. I had a better photo but had trouble working on PSE with it so gave up and used this one. Hope things go better next time around! This is a block of the month program for calender blocks to put on a hanger. They are fairly quick and easy, especially for a self-taught, new quilter. I look forward to each one that I get and it's a change of pace from stamping. I'm starting a lap quilt that I purchased the kit for several months ago. I have everything ready to go...just need some thread, and that is on order. Tired of paying Joann's high prices so ordered some online.

Hope you have a fun week. I have quite a few projects planned so we'll see how things go!

A little recipe book

Happy New Year! This is a little recipe book I made to go with a mini cheesecake pan. I found about 5 recipes specifically for these pans and then one with "stir-ins" for a basic recipe. So, I think this should be enough to satisfy most cheesecake lovers! The recipes were printed on the computer and mounted on cardstock. The cover was made with a scrap of DP that has been in my stash a few years. I love the bright bold colors. I added a folded strip at the top to act as a binding for the book. Then I used my Bind-it-all to pull it all together. Tons of ribbons were tied around the top coils.
I hope to find time tomorrow to do a little quilt block for my block-of-the-month hanger. It's January and I don't have my penguin done! It's really tough staying on top of these with the holidays but I WILL get it done before my February kit arrives in the mail!
Have a great week!
