WT216 A Girl's Favorite Places

I just have a little time to play today but I really wanted to do this challenge... when I should have been making a card for my husband's birthday! Oh well! My daughter is coming over tonight for dinner and we will celebrate his birthday today since he will be gone on Saturday when his birthday really is. The challenge for today was to use BLACK. This was a fun card for me. I love using black but for some reason I just don't do it that often - usually just for challenges! Crazy! So, here are some really cute shops by A Muse Stamps. I made a corrugated awning for the shops and then put brads on the end so it still pops out but doesn't stick out. The pink is embossed with Swiss Dots folder. The sentiment is by SU and popped up on the ribbon. Too cute!

Men's wallet

It's always fun to get goodies in the mail and today I was lucky enough to get 2 packages! One of the packages had some EXTRA goodies in it because they were a day late getting orders out so they threw in 3 extra fun things! Boy was that a fun treat!!! So, I hope to find time to PLAY with them in the next few days. Meanwhile, my mailbox is also getting flooded with graduation announcements and wedding announcements. So, I decided to try my hand at this wallet I had seen several months ago. The directions are here. Jerri Jiminez is one of the most outstanding stampers/crafters I think I have ever seen. You will have to explore her blog while you are over there looking at the directions. She is amazing! Anyways...This is my wallet. I ordered "leather" look paper several weeks ago online and then I used regular black cardstock for the interior. I used my Just Rite stamps to do the words. The pockets are all functional. I haven't glued down the flap for coins because I am still deciding if I want to put that on. I'm not real sure what I will do with it but may put "Congratulations" on there and then just tack the flap down. Have a great Thursday!

MOJO84 Just a note...

I didn't get a chance to do Mojo Monday last week so made a point to make sure it got done today. I've been wanting to use this stamp for a card for my husband's grandmother. I think she is pretty close to 100 years old and doing great. She played the violin and piano as a young girl and also taught music for many years so I thought she would like this. The stamp is by Penny Black. The sentiment is by Just Rite Stamps. The papers are by Basicgrey. Here is the sketch for today. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Journey Album

Yesterday I took a really fun class at a store in Cave Creek Arizona. We made these "Journey" albums where you can put pictures of places you have been. We started with a basic chipboard album and painted the edges. We then covered the pages with paper and decorated them. The front was done with a template of designs to sew the edges. It sure made things easier! The Journey tag was painted with "crackle" paint and then stamped. I love how it turned out. These are just a few of the many pages in the book. There are 4 tabbed chipboard pages and 4 black pages between each chipboard. There are lots of titles to go in the book and lots more embellishments but I don't have the pictures for it yet so will just have to wait to finish it later.

Another purse

It has been so beautiful outside here lately that you really don't want to go inside. My hubby and I truly enjoy sitting on our backporch and just listening to the birds. We have a few mockingbirds in our Ficus tree that are nesting and they have got to be the meanest birds. My dog can hardly go to the bathroom in her own fenced yard without getting attacked by them. What makes it really bad is that she has gone deaf so can't hear them come at her. They are always in fights with all the other birds trying to get their eggs. I will be glad when the baby birds are on their own so life can return to normal in my back yard.
This is another purse I made and just had so much fun doing it. It has an acrylic butterfly that is arched on the front if you really look closely. There is also a "mom" charm hanging from the handle. There are pictures inside and lots of rhinestones, rub ons, flowers and sentiments. The album was purchased from Accentscrapbooking.com. I hope these will be treasured. I hate giving them away, they are so cute!!! Have a great week!

LSC215 Home Inspiration

The "Limited Supplies Challenge" for today on SCS was to use the colors of one of the rooms in your home for inspiration for your card. I chose my daughter's room. Several years ago she wanted a "Paris" room and we chose black and pink for her colors. It is a very feminine room - just like her. She is now out on her own and I have not changed her room like I did when my son moved out! I really love her bedroom and it will probably stay the same for quite some time. Anyways, this is my card. It is perfect for her room. The stamp is by Penny Black. The white paper is embossed with a Dotted Swiss embossing folder. The black lace on the dress is sparkly but not visible in the photo. The pinks all match but not as well in the picture shown here. Hope you have a great weekend!

Mother's Day Purse

This is a project that I have been working on for several days and I think I am finally done! It is an acrylic purse album! I took a class this past weekend from Lickety Split Scrapbooks at the Mesa Scrapbooking Convention. This is my version of one of our projects we made. You can order the acrylic albums here. They have super fast service so you can probably still order and receive them in time for Mother's Day. Anyhoo...it is really hard to take picture of the pages so I didn't. There are rub ons, flowers and photos on DP. Any ink used must be Stazon. I just inked the edges on this purse. I beaded the handle but there is an acrylic handle that comes with the purse kit that you can use if you like. We just attached ribbons all the way across the handle in class. I wanted to do beads on this one and I think I like it better. If you have any questions, just email me.

SC225 Just Buzzin'by

What a day! We spent the morning replacing 4 tiles in our kitchen that were not properly put down when we had our kitchen remodeled last year. It's never fun to fix other people's work that should have been done right the first time around but...

I did slip up into my craft room to play with some new things that my postman brought me today. I'll have to finish it in a few days. I took time out to do the SCS sketch for today and this is what I came up with. This cute bee was such a challenge to cut out but I managed to do it without cutting any of her legs off! Wow! I put glitz on her wings but that's probably not visible in the photo. The bee hive is popped up with dimensionals. The paper is some REALLY old DP by Provo Craft. Love it! Anyways...I'm beeing (hee hee) called for another project so better cut this short. Have a great day!

CC215 Rhinestone Cowgirl

I spent over half the day yesterday cleaning and organizing my craft room. It seems the more you buy, the more organizing and reorganizing you have to do. Well, I just had to do today's Color Challenge on SCS and you would never know I did any cleaning yesterday. It's amazing how messy this craft can be. I think I dragged everything out for one simple card! Oh well...I must say I LOVE THIS CARD! I have no idea who I will ever send it to but I had to make it!

The stamps are by Dee Gruenig's Texas collection. We spent many years in Texas and my son lives there, so I thought I should get this set. I do love it! The boots and hat were colored with Marvy markers and then stamped on the paper and cut out. I added some glitz with a silver gelly roll pen but you may not see it in the picture. It really makes the card!!! The corners are Home Pro brads and I lost one while putting the card together and I had a hole on my card. Well, that is where the flower came in! The pink paper is embossed with a pearly silver powder and a rope stamp. It is really awesome although not too visible on the photo. The edging is a Martha Stewart punch. Have a great day!

Thinking of you MOJO79

Today I am going to share a card I made for a special friend who will be hospitalized next week for a few days. I had this verse that I really wanted to use and was looking at the MOJO Monday sketches and found the perfect sketch to use with this stamp. I stamped it in Versamark and then embossed it in gold. The edges are done with a metallic rub. The DP is by Basicgrey and the others are by SU. This was a very simple card to make, yet very pretty. Have a wonderful day!

Elegant cone

Today is "my day". I plan to spend some much needed time in my craft room. I went to a Creative Keepsakes Convention yesterday in Mesa and took 2 awesome classes by Lickety Split Scrapbooks. We made 2 different acrylic albums. I have never made any so this was a real treat. I learned techniques for use on acrylic. I plan to make a few more so will post those when I get them done. Today I finished up a cone I had started earlier and am real happy with the way it turned out. It's just a knick knack but a fun one. I saw it here by Kathie Mcguire. You will have to scroll down a bit to find hers but it's worth the time. She has some beautiful ones on her blog and also directions for making them. It is made with a 9inch square of DP. I added the beaded trim on the edges. The top is trimmed with an edging done with a Martha Stewart punch. The ribbon is attached to the back with eyelets. I may make one for a friend who goes in the hospital next week for surgery. I will probably just fill it with candy. Have a wonderful Monday!

LSC216 Happy Father's Day!

This was a Limited Supply Challenge on SCS shown here. We had to use a wheel. I have never used this wheel before and I've had it for over a year. It's perfect for men's cards and I know I will use it quite frequently for that. The tool box is a Judith stamp. I really wanted to cut the white background out but knew I would probably lose a few tools doing it so decided to leave it there. It really bothers me but don't think our Dad's will care too much. I decided to put a "cord" on my sentiment card, even though it was against the rules. It really needed something and I bet most people didn't show the insides of their cards and I'm guessing there are quite a few cards with images on the insides too! So, I don't feel too bad since I showed the whole card. The papers are all SU papers. The ink is by Memories and it did pretty well with the Copic markers! Have a great weekend!

Ways to Use it Challenge WT214

The challenge for today was to use a frame - seen here - any kind of frame, in any sort of way imaginable. Well, I have this Penny Black frame stamp that is so cute and couldn't resist using it for this challenge. I found a Sugar Nellie stamp that fit it perfectly so here she is. This was a simple card to make with lots of coloring. I cut out the inside of the frame and put a different background to bring out the cutie pie. The frame is popped out with dimensionals. What do you think?

YUM YUM SC224

It's so hard to come up with male birthday cards and I sure have a lots of nephews to do cards for! This was a sketch on SCS for today and I decided to try my big hamburger stamp for the challenge. It also seemed to be appropriate for boys so that is always nice. What teenage boy doesn't love hamburgers?! The stamp was colored with Copic markers and the edges were done using a stipple brush to give a little more color to the bright white paper. The ribbons don't hardly show up but are the perfect colors for the busy paper. Maybe I should have put a solid piece of paper behind them to make them stand out a bit more. Well, it's too late now and I honestly don't think he will care. I hope he likes his burger card!

Color Challenge

It's so nice to be back in my stamping room again. My son and his girlfriend have been here the past few days so I really haven't had much time to sneak in here. They went to a baseball game tonight so I thought I would try to get a card done while they were gone. I looked at the Color Challenge on SCS today and loved the color combination so decided to make that my card for today. This is a Gorjuss Girl stamp and what a cutie she is! The papers are all SU papers. The sentiment is a SU stamp. Have a wonderful day!

Wedding Card MOJO82

Wedding season is just around the corner and I have a few cards I needed to get started on for upcoming weddings. When I saw the MOJO Monday sketch I decided I would try this for one of them. I had to really "play" with my shapes since they are not really squares. The aqua square is really a bit odd but I think it worked ok. I just didn't want to make the cake image a square so I had to get creative with my cutting!!! The cake is embossed in gold and colored with Copics, The papers are by SU. The Gold paper is by Recollections. I believe the cake is an old $1 Michael's stamp. The sentiment is a part of a SU stamp. The flower is a Prima - of course! They have the most gorgeous flowers in all shapes, sizes and colors.

Easter Decor

It's been a busy week but I managed to slip into my craft room and have a little fun while hubby and dog have hit the sack. I imagine it will be pretty noisy when I go to bed with a snoring competition going on between the two of them! Anyways, I saw this chick on SCS and had to case it from Laurie here. I added a little fibers to the wild hairs although you can't really tell from the photo. Then I decided to make a bunny to go along with the cute chick so this is what I came up with. Pretty cute, huh? Just a bunch of punches put together!

Mojo Monday is here!

I love Mondays because there are some great challenges to do and Mojo Monday is a favorite of mine! I love their sketches! Todays can be found here. I bought this Raggedy Anne stamp at a stamping show a few weeks ago and couldn't wait to use it for this sketch. The stamps are by Judith. The DP is by SU and Frances Meyer and the flower is a Prisma. There is a touch of glitter on the hearts and the bow in her hair but probably not visible in the photo. I used dimensionals to prop her up a bit. Have a wonderful day!

Happy Anniversary!

This is a special request I had from a friend wanting an Anniversary card. The sentiment was done on the computer and then the edges were done with a stipple brush. The DP is by K & Company and is very glittery so I decided to use pearls on the card to go with the elegant look of the paper. The leaves of the flowers are done with a punch. The charm is from my beading stash. Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by!

Flowerpot Card

What a fun card to make for todays challenge on SCS and the directions can be found here. The DP is by K & Company. The flowers are a Sizzix die cut made from my file of scraps. It's always good to use those up! The buttons were sewn on with silk ribbon from my sewing days. The flowers pull out of the pot with the sentiment on the inside card.

Easter Basket

It's so good to be back in my craft room! We took a few days off to go visit the Grand Canyon. We have lived here 11 years and had not been up there yet so I thought it was about time to do that! It was well worth the trip and so awesome! I have lived in so many states and I must say that Arizona is probably the most beautiful state. There are so many different terrains and they are all gorgeous. We went to a Dbacks baseball game last night and that was fun even though they didn't play the greatest. Anyways...this is what I made today. I saw it on SCS and here is the tutorial on it here. It is made from one sheet of 12 x 12 cardstock! Pretty amazing! It is a bit time consuming and really tests your patience! I don't think it is something I would want to mass produce!!! But, I am happy with how it turned out and I think this will be a "keeper" for ME!!! Have a great weekend!

SC222 Challenge Happy Easter!

I keep thinking I am done with my Easter cards and then one more challenge comes along that seems to work well with one of my Easter stamps...so another card is created! The sketch for this challenge can be found here. This was a super simple card to make and it turned out just as cute as the more time consuming cards! The stamp is by Penny Black and the sentiment is by Paper Salon. The DP is by Best Creation (egg print) and Colorbok (basket weave). The rick rack trim is some that has been in my stash for years and I finally found a use for it! I colored the bunny with Copics. Have a great day!
