It's a great week...

for my son! He just got word that he has a PILOT slot in the Navy! It has been a life long dream of his to fly airplanes like his Dad. I have pictures of him when he was 18 months old in a flight suit I made him, standing by an F-16 with his Dad. His dream is finally coming true and he will be flying airplanes in the Navy. He is currently working for NASA and he will have front row seats for the next shuttle launch on March 12th. So this will be a nice way to finish his NASA career and begin his career with the Navy. SO>>>this is a card I made to congratulate him! Of course I have airplane stamps on hand with my husband being a pilot so this one seemed to be the most appropriate for the occasion. I colored it with COPIC markers and wrote NAVY on the front. The other stamp is from SU. The tiny airplanes on the inside of the card are punches I've had for years.
If you would like to send a Congrats card to Brandon, his address is:
Brandon Phipps
801 E. NASA Rd 1
Apt 3204
Webster, TX 77598
I am trying to get as many people as possible to send him cards as this has been a lifelong dream of his! Would love for him to get some beautiful handmade cards too!!! Thanks so much for helping out!!! Have a great day!

Another Baby Book

This is another baby book I made for a friend. I bought the star shaped chipboard book and then just covered the pages with DP and embellishments. Most of the papers are from Nana's Nursery Baby Boy collection of papers by DCWV. I used an assortment of stamps and embellishments. I took the original coil out of the book and used my Bind-it-all to put in a white coil. This also allowed me to put the papers all the way to the edges.

Bunny Hop

Spring is certainly here in Arizona and the days are absolutely beautiful this time of year. I think it was 84 here today. This card is a rather "springy" card and I just love the SU papers they came out with this season. This is one of my favorite collections and I look forward to doing lots of Easter cards with the assortment. This cute bunny is by Penny Black. It's a clear stamp set so it took quite a few attempts to get it to stamp nicely. I'm not a big fan of clear stamps but couldn't resist this set. It is colored with Copic markers and the Hippity Hop is another of the $1 stamps from the "M" store! Have a sunny day!

Easter Basket

I saw this idea on SCS and decided to try making one. It really is as easy as they say! The fun comes with decorating it! I used some scraps I had laying around. The bunny is by Daisy Kingdom and is a stamp I've had for ages. I made the grass by just cutting a strip with scissors - how easy can that be! The bow is made from a roll of tulle I had from my sewing days. The template for the box can be found here.

Baby Book

This is a 6 X 6 Baby Book I did for some friends who will soon be Grandparents! Their daughter is expecting a baby boy any day now. She is actually about a week late now so hopefully she won't be like me and have to be 2 weeks late! That's not fun! Anyways...this was fun to do. I used lots of stamps and embellishments. The next post will have some of the inside pages. I also made a scrapbook for the parents and maybe I will post that tomorrow. Have a great day!

Baby Book

These are a few of the inside pages of the baby book. I tried to leave room for the recepients to put photos. I used my Bind-it-all to put it together.

Ballerina Bunny

This card brings back wonderful memories of the days when I sewed all of my daughter's dresses! She had several "Daisy Kingdom" dresses that I made for her. This bunny is one of the prints I made an Easter dress from. The stamp is by Penny Black and I believe it is being discontinued so I was sure to scarf it up! I embossed the stamp on vellum (I think I like this new technique I tried yesterday!!!) and then colored in the back of the image with my Copic markers. The white edging is a Martha Stewart punch which I use quite frequently. The DP is some I picked up today by Imaginisce. The hippity hop stamp is a $1 stamp from Michaels. This is the first of my Easter cards and hopefully there are many more to come! Enjoy your weekend!

Morning Soft

This card seemed to be the perfect card to make today as it is such a beautiful day here in SUNNY Arizona. It's the perfect temperature for sitting out by the pool and that is just what I did today! This is my first card where I stamped on vellum and then embossed the image and colored the back side with copic markers. I was happy with the results. The image was then cut out and glued onto the cardstock. The papers are by SU and the flower stamp is also by SU. The sentiment is by Scrappy Cats. I got the pearl buttons from those packages of buttons and doo dads at Michael's. I added the sheer ribbon to tie it in with the pearls. Have a sunny day!

Happy Bird Day!

This is a card I just made with my newest Dee Gruenig Stamp! She has some awesome stamps and this set is going to be so much fun! Very tropical! I had just picked up the perfect DP for this by Glitz. It has all the tropical colors in it! I matched up my Marvy markers to the colors in the paper and colored the actual stamp and then stamped it on the paper. I love how it turned out. The plum paper is done with the branch stamp and a Versamark pad. I had another DP that I was going to use but it was too busy so I just decided to use the plum paper and dress it up a bit with the Versamark. The flowers are new from Prima and are very lacy. There are actually 2 flowers put together with the brad. Have a wonderful day!

Setting Sail

It suddenly hit me yesterday that I did not send a card to my sister-in-law for her birthday. I feel so bad because I have sent them to all of her kids and my brother but have never sent her one because I always forget. I never really sent them to all my relatives until I started making them so I guess I shouldn't feel quite so bad. But I never get cards from most of my relatives nor do I hear whether they got theirs - or appreciated them - so I guess I shouldn't feel too bad....but I do. It's just not me!!! I guess I must have different genes from the rest of the family!!! Anyhow...this is for her and is so appropriate for her since she is a Savannah girl and loves the ocean. Other than all the coloring...it's a simple card. It's a Penny Black - one of my favorite stamp designers. Hope she likes it even though it's late.

New Baby!

I made this card for a new baby that is due any day now. It's going to be a baby boy so I hope there isn't too much pink in it. The green looks much better in real life and matches better than this shows. The stamps are by SU and Kolette Hall. The striped paper was scraps I had so I'm not sure where it came from. The flowers are made from 3 different punches and then have a tiny green rhinestone in the center. I'm also working on a few small albums for the new baby and the baby's grandparents. The grandpa was my boss about 29 years ago and I have kept up with their family through all of our 17 moves around the world! Great family and I'm so excited to be making some special gifts for them! Maybe he will come on Valentine's Day tomorrow like they hope!

Valentine Gift Card

OK...this should be my last valentine!!! I made a gfit card holder today for one of those big gift cards. I made it kind of like a gift box with the lid that comes off. I think I had seen a similar idea on SCS once upon a time. So, this is my version of that. The paper is so cute and is from Bo Bunny. The stamp is another Magnolia stamp I ordered from Sweden and really love. I was hunting for something for her to sit on and found scraps left over from my Top Note die cuts. I turned it on it's side and cut it off and made a table for her to sit on. How clever is that!!! I hope it looks like a table to you because it does to me!!! I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day. My hubby and I did ours today since he leaves on a trip about 3 am tomorrow for the weekend.

Birthday Card in a Box

Here is a Birthday Card that I did for a friend. The first picture shows how the card is accordian styled and folds up into the box. The second picture is of the box closed up. The ribbon on the top holds the box all together and can be taken off.

Inside Pages of Birthday Box

These are the inside pages of the birthday card in a box that I did for a close friend. It was a kit that I purchased a few years ago and it came in a box that you attached the accordian card to. I decorated each of the pages with some of the papers they included but added many of my own. All of the embellishments were added too. I made pockets and tags to make it more fun! It turned out really cute.

Color Challenge

I made this card today for the color challenge on SCS. We had to use the 3 solid colors here, the pink pirouette, kiwi kiss and perfect plum. My plum is from CTMH so it's a little darker but works well with the other colors so I went for it anyways! The stamp is one of my new ones from Sugar Nellie. Lola is such a cutie and waiting for spring to come! The dp is by Basicgrey and is a beautiful spring print. The flower is from Painterly Petals and these are gorgeous flowers and reasonably priced at our new scrapbooking store! Have a wonderful day!

Valentine Gift Set

This is a gift set I made for a friend of mine. The card and matchbook are cased from Jean Stayton's SU class yesterday so I want to thank her for the ideas. The card is made by cutting a strip of paper 12 inches long and 1 1/4 in wide. I punched one side and then fan folded it like we did in kindergarten. The ends are glued together and then a dab of glue is put in the center of the flower to hold it together. The matchbook is mostly just folds of paper to fit the candy that is put inside. The candy bar is covered in DP by SU and then I embellished it with paper flowers and a tag. The BIG tag was made because I found it laying on my table while I was cleaning up and decided to put it to good use. I had a few decorations left from other projects so just put them all together and this is what I came up with! Hope you can understand all this!!!

Sketch Book

I made something for me today! I decided I wanted to put the SCS challenges in a book so I wouldn't have to look them up on the computer to get ideas. I got this paper free from a new scrapbook store that opened here recently and thought it would be perfect for this since it had a beautiful design on it and didn't require a lot of stamping. The paper is by Deja Views. The letters are chipboard and are colored with copic markers. The swirls are die cuts from Sizzix. I put the DP on some of the heavy cardboard that comes with the SU papers. I just cut it to the size I needed and then used my "Bind-it-all" to put it all together. I have all the sketches through 208 all together now for quick card ideas! How easy is that?
